Just 29 kilometres from the campsite at Lac de Carouge, and around 35 minutes away, the town of Aix les Bains welcomes you for an afternoon of walking, cycling, cultural visits and beautiful scenery.

Aix Les Bains attracts many visitors every year. Its spring water is even said to have pain-relieving properties and even a curative effect! Our campsite near Aix Les Bains is perfect for exploring the varied countryside on foot or by bike. In fact, there are several walking and cycling routes in the area, which we will be delighted to share with you.

With some 850 square kilometres of mountain slopes, waterways and lush green forests, the Massif des Bauges Regional Park, just above the town, offers a beautiful environment for hikes of varying lengths.

Don’t forget to visit Mont Revard. This mountain, at an altitude of over 1,500 metres, has been a real attraction for many tourists for over 200 years. From its belvedere, you can enjoy an exceptional view of Aix les Bains and its lake.

What’s more, the many cycle routes around the lake will allow you to discover some magnificent scenery.

A number of boat trips leave from the town to explore Lac du Bourget. From the Chanaz canal to Hautecombe abbey, discover the heritage of Savoie as you float along the lake.

A lively, bustling town.

In the historic, semi-pedestrianised heart of Aix-les-Bains, you’ll be invited to enjoy the climate on the terraces of the cafés and restaurants. And there are plenty of shops to tempt you to window-shop and stroll around. Chocolatiers, ice-cream makers, patissiers and cheesemongers offer you the full range of Savoie’s gastronomic specialities. And why not let yourself be tempted by the town’s art galleries and craftspeople?

With a variety of fashion boutiques, both large and small, art galleries and specialist craft shops, you can shop to your heart’s content in the centre. The beauty of the town hall will certainly not escape you. This former medieval castle has been completely renovated, but still exudes the character and allure of the 16th century. The monumental Château de la Roche du Roi is another of the town’s tourist attractions. The centre is also rich in parks and fountains.

Camping du lac de Carouge near Aix les Bains is just 40 minutes from the town. The town of Aix les Bains is very easy to get to either by road or by motorway. In fact, we often advise our visitors to take advantage of the same day to visit Chambéry, Lac du Bourget and Aix-les-Bains.

Even in the evening, there’s plenty to do in the town. There are plenty of bars, discos and cinemas. The city has a wealth of restaurants, cafés and brasseries. There’s something for everyone! With several specialist shops, such as chocolatiers, ice-cream makers, confectioners and cheese makers, you’ll discover the gastronomic qualities of Savoie in a tasty way. The Casino Grand Cercle, home to a glittering casino and French theatre, is a must-see. In early July, for 3 days, the town hosts ‘Musilac’, one of France’s biggest rock festivals.

Are you looking for a sporting activity other than walking or cycling? On Lac du Bourget, you can enjoy a number of water sports. There’s also a large golf course nearby, where you can go horse-riding or play tennis.
